FAQs
We are currently accepting applications for self study courses. These courses are 100% online where students can learn independently at their own pace. While ASME offers courses in a variety of formats (in person, virtual classroom, guided study, etc.), we are currently only accepting applications for on demand. Learn more about our learning experiences.
We encourage you to consider building an on demand course. If you feel your content does not fit into this format, you may still apply, however we are not currently approving applications for other formats. If we see demand for additional formats we will consider them at that time.
If you are interested in becoming an instructor, but not building your own course, you can fill out ASME’s instructor inquiry form.
Course prices are set by you, the instructor. Pricing guidelines will be included in the ASME Instructor Toolkit and we will work with you to make sure pricing is consistent with our catalog. ASME may discount courses, in which case you will receive proportional royalties based on net sales.
The amount of time it takes to build a course can vary. ASME Learning & Development provides resources and structured deadlines to help you stay on track and take your content from ideation to launch.
You will earn royalties on your published courses. This is a percentage of net sales, typically paid annually or quarterly. ASME may discount courses, in which case you will receive proportional royalties based on net sales.
Course feedback is provided by ASME L&D and may include information such as beta tester and student feedback, course net promoter score (NPS), and the number of students who have purchased the course.
The contract agreement outlines intellectual property ownership, financials, terms, and indemnification. You will maintain ownership of your intellectual property.
There are multiple application deadlines and approval dates. If you miss one, you can still apply and your submission will be reviewed by the next approval dates. View the application schedule above.
There are multiple content deadline opportunities. It is possible to miss one content deadline, after that you may need to resubmit your course application. This will help ensure your course is published in a timely manner and that your contract does not expire before your course can launch.
To submit a course for approval, you will need to fill out the application form. During this process you will submit documentation to be reviewed by ASME’s Learning & Development team before approval. Documentation includes your contact information and qualifications, and information about your course such as a description, audience, outline, and learning outcomes.
ASME has courses covering over 30 topics and subtopics, available in a variety of formats. Current offerings can be found here. Some of our most requested topics are: project management, problem solving, leadership, data & analytics, communication skills, ASME codes & standards, design for manufacturing, modeling & simulation, CAD, and material properties, just to name a few. If you want to create a course in one of these areas or another engineering-related topic, we encourage you to apply.
